Storyteller Visits AMS

Charlotte Blake-Alston, a storyteller from Philadelphia, entertained English ELP students on Wednesday, September 15th. Her melodic voice told stories common to many traditions. She used a Kora, a 21 stringed instrument made out of a large gourd, to enhance her work. According to Ms. Blake-Alston, the instrument has been played by storytellers in Senegal for 800 years.

Ms. Blake-Alston's visit was made possible by the Story City StoryTelling Festival committee. Students and families interested in hearing more of Ms. Blake Alston's work can visit Story! Festival, September 16-19, 2010, in Story City, Iowa.
