Challenge Math Group

The Challenge Math Group meets approximately once a month during the math class period to work on topics that extend the 7th grade curriculum.  Students are chosen for this group based on a need for additional challenge as evidenced by high performance in the classroom and/or high test scores.  The work done in class and assigned for homework replaces the regular classroom work.

The group met for the first time on Friday, September 18 and Friday, September 25 to study fractions and decimals, the topic that is also current in the classroom.  The students learned how to convert repeating decimals to fractions, discussed the meaning of the term "rational number", and concluded that all repeating decimals are rational numbers.
